Behind the Mask
Event Details
What masks do you wear at school, online, with friends, or at home—and when do you get to take them off? Behind the Mask is an imaginative journey through the minds of Baltimore-area teenagers that invites audiences to reflect on authenticity and identity. Created by youth, for youth, this production uses poetry, visual art, music, and dance to explore how young people navigate their worlds while discovering who they truly are.
The Lyric Youth Theater Ensemble (grades 8th-12th) developed this show through an intensive collaborative process with the artistic team, learning monologue writing, playwriting, and choreography to bring their vision to the stage. Behind the Mask is a meditation of the heart.
Director, Laura Sligh; Co-Director, Maya James; Program Administrator, Nicole Johnson.
The show runs approximately 1 hour with a 30-minute post-show discussion
