Vir Das: I say we RUN!
Event Details
Emmy-winning comedian, actor and filmmaker Vir Das has emerged as one of the most beloved voices in comedy worldwide, with The New York Times stating, “No artist embodies the globalization of stand-up like Vir Das.” His fourth Netflix comedy special, Landing, premiered to universal praise from fans and critics alike, earning Das a 2023 International Emmy Award for Best Comedy, his first win and second nomination. His previous Netflix special, Vir Das: For India, was nominated for a 2021 International Emmy for Best Comedy. Landing, which Vir also directed, explored freedom, foolishness, the West, the East, the notion of home and what it means to be a citizen of one nation in a global world. The special, which The Daily Beast called Das’ “strongest hour of stand-up yet” and Decider praised for offering “plenty of food for thought,” was the culmination of Vir performing the show more than 180 times across countries around the world, including a hugely successful run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. His latest Netflix comedy special, Fool Volume, further adds to his celebrated body of work.
One of India’s biggest stand-up comedians, Vir Das was the second-best-selling live act in the country last year. He has also undertaken one of the largest world tours by an Indian comedian with Mind Fool, performing at iconic venues including Carnegie Hall in New York, Esplanade in Singapore, Dubai Opera in the UAE and Eventim Apollo in London. He has since continued to take his comedy to audiences across the globe with Hey Stranger, his latest world tour, which recently wrapped after a major international run that included his debut at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Back in India, Das is now taking audiences on a new journey with Sounds of India, an immersive audio-visual stand-up experience that celebrates the sounds, quirks and everyday nuances of the country. The India tour is set to travel across multiple cities, including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Goa and Kochi.
Beyond stand-up, Vir has built an eclectic career as an actor, writer, producer and filmmaker. He has created, produced and starred in multiple series, including the ABC spy drama-comedy Whiskey Cavalier, the Netflix thriller Hasmukh and the travel show Jestination Unknown for Amazon. He also starred in Judd Apatow’s Netflix feature The Bubble.
In 2026, Das made his directorial debut with Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, a comedy backed by Aamir Khan Productions, in which he also stars. He is now expanding further into filmmaking with Baara Number, his second directorial venture, a found-footage psychological horror film featuring an ensemble cast Alongside his work in comedy, film and television, Vir is also made his debut as an author in 2025 with The Outsider: A Memoir for Misfits.
